William Constantine Culbertson

William Constantine Culbertson ( born November 25, 1825 Edinboro, Erie County, Pennsylvania, † May 24, 1906 in Girard, Pennsylvania ) was an American politician. Between 1889 and 1891 he represented the State of Pennsylvania in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

William Culbertson attended the public schools of his home. After that he worked in the lumber business. He shipped as wood on the Allegheny River. Later he operated a sawmill in Covington (Kentucky). In 1863 he moved to Girard. Then Culbertson acquired larger forest land in several states, including Michigan and Wisconsin. In Minnesota and in his native Pennsylvania, he engaged in agriculture. He also went into the banking industry and was president of the Citizens ' National Bank of Corry, Pennsylvania.

Politically Culbertson was a member of the Republican Party. In the congressional elections of 1888 he was in the 26th electoral district of Pennsylvania in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he succeeded the Democrats Norman Hall on March 4, 1889. Since he was not nominated by his party for re-election in 1890, he was able to complete only one term in Congress until March 3, 1891.

After the end of his time in the U.S. House of Representatives sat William Culbertson its previous activities continued. He died on May 24, 1906 in Girard, where he was also buried.
