William Douglas, 2nd Earl of Angus
William Douglas, 2nd Earl of Angus ( * ca 1398; † October 1437 ) was a Scottish nobleman.
William was a son of George Douglas, 1st Earl of Angus, and his wife, the Scottish Princess Mary. He succeeded his father as Earl of Angus 1402.
William was in 1423 a major role in the negotiations for the release of James I.. In 1430 he was Scottish Ambassador to England in 1433 and Warden of the Middle Marches. He fought in the Battle of Piperdon on 10 September 1436 in which he was able to defeat the British.
The Earl married in 1414 Margaret, daughter of Sir William Hay, and had with her the following children:
