William H. Macy
William Hall Macy ( born March 13, 1950 in Miami, Florida ) is an American actor.
Life
His first role as a young boy in the play Camelot. At Goddard College in Vermont, he learned the directors and writers Steven Schachter and Professor David Mamet, with whom he works to this day.
Macy broke his veterinary studies after a few semesters and instead took in Mamet drama classes. Together with his fellow Joe Mantegna and Dennis Franz, he founded the theater group Mamet 's mafia. Together with Mamet, he also developed Practical Aesthetics, an acting technique, which he still teaches at the drama school of the Atlantic Theater Company.
1972 attracted Macy, Mamet and Schachter moved to Chicago, where they founded the St. Nicholas Theater. Two years later, Macy moved to Los Angeles, where he hoped his breakthrough as a film actor, but large role offers were made for the time being. Instead, he celebrated in 1980 in New York great success as a theater director and received together with the ensemble of re- performance of the play Our Town by Thornton Wilder a Tony Award.
The early 1990s was also Hollywood attention to him. After minor roles in The Client, Mr. Holland's Opus, and Murder in the First, he received in 1996 for his role in Fargo the Coen Brothers an Oscar nomination as Best Supporting Actor.
In subsequent years, Macy was in films such as Boogie Nights, Air Force One, Psycho, Wag the Dog - When the tail wags the dog, Civil Procedure, Pleasantville - Too good to be true, Magnolia and Jurassic Park III impress with sophisticated supporting roles in which he gives extra depth to the classic losers. Usually applied as a rather uninteresting average guys who have come to terms long ago with their fate, despair and engage in the further course to drastic measures. He also starred in The Cooler - Everything on love.
Since 1997 he has been married to actress Felicity Huffman, with whom he has two daughters.
On March 7, 2012 Macy was honored with a star category film on the Hollywood Walk of Fame ( at address 7060 Hollywood Boulevard ); his wife Felicity Huffman received at the same time in the same place is also a star.
