William Paul Jarrett

William Paul Jarrett ( born August 22, 1877 in Honolulu, Hawaii, † November 10, 1929 ) was an American politician. Between 1923 and 1927 he represented as a delegate the Hawaii Territory in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Early years and political rise

William Jarrett grew up in Honolulu. There he attended the public schools. After Hawaii became in 1898 a United States territory, Jarrett was one of the first party leader of the Democrats in the new territory. From 1906 to 1914 he was first representatives of the sheriff and then sheriff of the city proper and the district of Honolulu. Between 1914 and 1922 he was known as " High Sheriff " of Hawaii Territory of the highest police officers in the area. At the same time, he headed the prison on Oahu. Between 1919 and 1922 he was also on the board of the industrial schools of Hawaii.

Congressman and other CV

In the congressional elections of 1922, he was elected as the successor of Henry Alexander Baldwin in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington. There he represented in two legislative periods between 4 March 1923 and 3 March 1927 as a delegate its territory. In the 1926 elections he failed to Victor Houston. Then he returned to the Hawaii Territory. He died in November 1929.
