William Wirich, Count of Daun-Falkenstein

Wirich Wilhelm von Daun -Falkenstein (* June 1, 1613; † August 26, 1682 ) was a German nobleman. He came from the line " Daun- Falkenstein " down the family and was by descent and heritage of Mr. Broich and house Biirgel and most recently also the owner of the county of Falkenstein.

Life

Wirich Wilhelm was a son of Count Johann Adolf von Daun- Falkenstein (1582-1623) and his wife Countess Anna Maria (1589-1620), daughter of Count Johann VII of Nassau-Siegen and Countess Magdalena of Waldeck.

On October 28, 1634 he married his cousin Elisabeth of Waldeck Castle of Waldeck. In 1636 Wilhelm Wirich got by will the county Falkenstein by his uncle 3rd degree Franz Christoph von Daun- Oberstein.

His only surviving son Carl Alexander was shot by Count Moritz von Limburg- Styrum during an argument on October 7, 1659. Although Wilhelm Wirich married again in 1663 the Countess Agnes Catherine Limburg- Styrum, but since this marriage remained childless, is extinguished with his death, the Graf family in the male line.

In 1667, he sold the impoverished county of Falkenstein at Duke Charles IV of Lorraine.

Marriage and issue

On October 28, 1634 he married his cousin Elisabeth of Waldeck Castle ( 1610-1647 ), daughter of Count Christian of Waldeck and Countess Elisabeth of Nassau-Siegen. They had the following children:

  • Carl Alexander (* February 23, 1643; † October 7, 1659 )
  • Wilhelm ( July 23, 1644; † October 4, 1653 )

Another marriage took place in 1663 with Agnes Catherine ( 1629-1686 ), daughter of Count Bernhard Albrecht of Limburg- Styrum ( 1597-1637 ) and Countess Anna Maria of the Bergh ( 1600-1653 ). The marriage remained childless.
