Williston is a city in Levy County in the U.S. state of Florida with 2,768 inhabitants ( 2010).

Geography

Williston is about 10 km east of Bronson and about 120 km south-west of Jacksonville.

Demographics

According to the 2010 census, the then 2,768 inhabitants distributed to 1,148 households. The population density was 158.2 inh. / Km ². 69.1 % of the population were white, 23.4% African American, 0.1% Native American and 1.6% Asian Americans. 3.7% were members of other ethnic groups and 2.2% in different ethnic groups. 11.3% of the population were Hispanic or Latino.

In 2010, children under the age of 18 and 28.9 % of all households lived in 36.3 % of all households with persons at least 65 years. 65.3 % of households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or a parent with offspring ). The average size of a household was 2.54 persons and the average family size was 3.01 persons.

27.3 % of the population were younger than 20 years, 25.7 % were 20-39 years old, 22.7 % were 40-59 years old and 24.3 % were at least 60 years old. The median age was 38 years. 46.8 % of the population were male and 53.2 % female.

The average annual income was $ 36,188, while 18.4 % of the population lived below the poverty line.

In 2000, English was the mother tongue of 97.10 % of the population spoke Spanish and 2.90%.

Williston is from U.S. Highway 27 (SR 500) and 41 and Florida State Road 121 crosses. The nearest airport is Gainesville Regional Airport ( about 40 km).

Crime

The crime rate in 2010 was 426 points ( U.S. average: 266 points ) within the average range. There were four robberies, 25 injuries, 27 burglaries, 89 thefts, six car thefts and two arsons.
