Fanning Springs is a city in the county Gilchrist and Levy in the U.S. state of Florida with 764 inhabitants (as of 2010).

Geography

Fanning Springs is located on the east bank of the Suwannee River; along the shore, the Fanning Springs State Park stretches. The city is located about 10 kilometers west of Trenton, 35 km north- west of Bronson and about 160 km southwest of Jacksonville.

Demographics

According to the 2010 census, the then 764 inhabitants distributed in 415 households. The population density was 78 inh. / Km ². 95.0 % of the population were white, 0.8 % African American, 1.4% Native American and 0.7 % Asian Americans. 0.9% were members of other ethnic groups and 1.2% in different ethnic groups. 7.7% of the population were Hispanic or Latino.

In 2010, children under the age of 18 and 40.5 % of all households lived in 24.7 % of all households with persons at least 65 years. 63.4 % of households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or a parent with offspring ). The average size of a household was 2.33 persons and the average family size is 2.77 people.

20.8% of the population were younger than 20 years, 20.5% were 20-39 years old, 25.1% were 40-59 years old and 33.7 % were at least 60 years old. The median age was 49 years. 49.6 % of the population were male and 50.4 % female.

The average annual income was $ 30,304, while 28.0 % of the population lived below the poverty line.

In 2000, English was the mother tongue of 96.67 % of the population spoke Spanish and 3.33%.

Fanning Springs is traversed by U.S. Highways 19, 27 and 98 ( on a common route ) and by the Florida State Road 26. The nearest airport is Gainesville Regional Airport (70 km east ).
