Wishbone Ash

Wishbone Ash, also known as The Ash, is an English rock band that celebrated their biggest success in the early 1970s. It was formed in 1969 from the group Tanglewood and is considered one of the first bands with two lead guitarists.

Biography

Originally the band consisted of Martin Turner (bass, vocals), his brother Glen Turner ( guitar, vocals) and Steve Upton (drums). With the departure Glens and after the band unsuccessfully sought a keyboardist, the two guitarists Andy Powell and David A. "Ted" Turner came (no relation to Martin) this. Thus, the distinctive "dual lead- guitar sound" of the band was born not least because you could not decide between Ted and Andy.

1970 Wishbone Ash played as the opening act for Deep Purple and became famous quickly. Her debut album Wishbone Ash appeared in late 1970. 1972 was Wishbone Ash as the most popular British newcomer band. Their third album Argus was named in various media for "Album of the Year".

1974 - by Live dates - preferring Ted Turner to Peru and he was replaced by Laurie Wisefield who helped to shape decisively the band in the same tradition to the album Raw to the Bone (1985). Wisefield then played with Tina Turner, Roger Chapman, Joe Cocker, The Nokia Night of the Proms and in the Queen musical We Will Rock You.

1988 there was a reunion of the original band, which lasted until 1992. Then the cast changed frequently, only Andy Powell heard without interruption to. For several years, Martin Turner is touring with his own band, Martin Turner's Wishbone Ash.

2007 was published by First Light which happened again surfaced at an auction in London first version of their debut album Wishbone Ash, which also includes two previously unreleased songs as well as an alternate version of the song alone from the second album. In the same year another studio album, The Power of Eternity appeared. The so far last album of the band came in early 2014 under the title Blue Horizon on the market.
