Witjira-Nationalpark

The Witjira National Park (English: Witjira National Park ) is 7770 km ² and was founded in 1985 at the western end of the Simpson Desert in the north of South Australia, near the settlement of Oodnadatta.

The park shows some biological and geological attractions. To Dalhousie Mound springs there are 70 thermal springs of a total of 120 sources of the park, which are enlivened with endemic fish and other rare creatures and birds. In the park there are several ways to rest and camp, but safety should be observed.

More commonly occurring tree species are the Red Mulga (Acacia cyperophylla ), the Coolibah (Eucalyptus Coolabah ) and white wood species ( Elaeocarpus ).

Aboriginal

In the park the Aboriginesvölker the Lower Southern Arrernte, Wangkangurru and Arabunnal, who have organized themselves in the Irrwanyere Aboriginal Corporation and the park farm life. Here, the traditional life of Aboriginal continues to cultivate and this combined with modern tourism.
