Władysław of Legnica

Władysław of Legnica ( Liegnitz also Ladislaus; Vladislav of Liegnitz; * June 6, 1296, † 1352) was Duke of Liegnitz. After he was ousted from that in 1314, he turned to the spiritual path. He came from the Silesian line of the Piast dynasty.

Life

His parents were Duke Henry V and Elisabeth ( † 1304), daughter of Duke Boleslaw of Kalisz.

Władysław was born three months after his father's death. Therefore, he and his siblings also still minor was under the guardianship of her uncle Bolko I, and after his death in 1301 the Bohemian king Wenceslas II in 1305 took over Wladislaus eldest brother Bolko III. under the tutelage of Bishop Henry of Breslau Vrbno the government inherited the territories at the same time for his younger brothers. 1311 paternal inheritance was divided. Boleslaw given the Duchy Brieg, Henry the Duchy of Wroclaw and the Duchy of Legnica Wladislaus.
