Wojciech Skupień

Wojciech Skupień ( born March 9, 1976 in Zakopane ) is a former Polish ski jumper. In addition to his athletic career, he is a soldier in the Polish army.

Career

He enters his first World Cup competition as a straight 16 -year-old in 1992 in Falun. The first World Cup points he collected a year later with a 20th place in Courchevel. Although he had already achieved in the preseason this placement, then World Cup points but were awarded under the old system, only the top 15 Springer.

From the season 1992/1993 bis 2000/2001 was fixed Skupień World Cup participants and regularly in the points, but never managed the final breakthrough. Rank 38 was his best finish in the World Cup (1999 /2000), at the Four Hills Tournament, he documents in 2001 after all, the 13th overall. After the 2000/2001 season Skupień was no longer regularly in World Cup competition at the start, but took part in competitions mainly lower competition venue series such as the Continental Cup or FIS Cup.

The last World Cup result to date by Wojciech Skupień was a 36th place in Willingen on 10 February 2007. His best individual result is a sixth place in 2000, added two 10th places (1995 and 2000). With the Polish team in 2001, he managed a podium finish in third place in Villach.

Wojciech Skupień adopted five Nordic World Ski Championships ( Falun in 1993, Thunder Bay, 1995, Trondheim 1997, Ramsau 1999 and Lahti 2001) and three ski flying world championships (1996, 2000 and 2004 ) in part. His best results here were a 15th place in the individual competition as well as a 5th place with the team at the Nordic World Championships in 2001 - both on the normal hill.

At Olympic Games Skupień took part three times in total (1994 in Lillehammer, Nagano 1998 and 2002 in Salt Lake City). When large hill competition in Nagano, he was 11, Skupieńs best result at major events.
