Wolfgang Dremmler

Wolfgang Dremmler ( born July 12, 1954 in Salzgitter ) is a former German football player.

Career

Clubs

A trained fitter played in his youth for TSV Watenstedt, TSV Hallendorf and SV Union Salzgitter, before moving in 1973 to Eintracht Braunschweig in the Regionalliga Nord. From the season 1974/75 started his time as a midfielder in the Bundesliga, where he played for two clubs. From 1974 to 1979 for Eintracht Braunschweig ( 138 games - 9 goals) and 1979 to 1986 for FC Bayern Munich (172 games - 6 goals).

His league debut came (2nd Round ) on 30 August 1974 in the 0-2 defeat in the away match against 1.FC Kaiserslautern Substitutes for Bernd Gersdorff in the 86th minute. His first Bundesliga goal he scored on 20 September 1975 ( 8 Round ) in the 1:5 defeat in the away match against FC Schalke 04 the deficit to intermediate 1-0 in the 27th minute.

With Bayern, he was four times German Champion ( 1980, 1981, 1985, 1986 ) and three times in the DFB Cup winners (1982, 1984, 1986).

On 31 May 1984, he forced the DFB Cup final against Borussia Mönchengladbach with his goal in the 83rd minute overtime. The final was won only 7:6 on penalties to FC Bayern Munich to goalless extension.

National

Dremmler wearing the national jersey for the first time on September 2, 1975 in Augsburg in a 2-0 victory for the B- team against the national team of Austria, when he came in to replace Caspar Memering. Two further applications in this selection team. On October 7, 1980 in Kerkrade, in a 2-1 victory against the national team of the Netherlands and on 28 April 1981 in Coimbra in a 2-0 win against the national team of Portugal.

His international debut for the senior team, he announced on January 7, 1981 during the Mundialito in Montevideo in the 1:4 defeat against the Seleção with Substitutes for Manfred Kaltz in the 35th minute. With his first international goal in only his fourth international match he made on September 23, 1981 in Bochum, the final score of 7:1 against the selection of Finland in the fifth qualifying match for the World Cup 1982.

From 1981 to 1984 Dremmler completed 27 caps for the senior national team, with the participation in the 1982 World Cup in Spain and reaching the second place for him meant the footballing highlight. His last international game he played on 29 February 1984 in Brussels in the 1-0 victory against the host national team of Belgium.

Others

In 1986, he finished his career as a player and then worked as a coach at various clubs. Dremmler worked for 17 years as Chief Scout and Head of Department Spiele-/Spielerbeobachtung Bayern Munich before he became the head of the Youth Training Centre of the Association in August 2012.
