Wolfpassing is a municipality with 1482 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2013 ) in the district Scheibbs in Lower Austria.

Geography

Wolfpassing is a group of village streets in the valley of the Little Erlauf and belongs to the Most district in Lower Austria. The area of ​​the municipality covers 20.31 square kilometers. 16.68 percent of the area is forested.

History

In ancient times, the area was part of the province of Noricum. Wolfpassing was founded in the 10th or 11th century and was owned by the same rule. In the core Austrian state of Lower Austria lying the place informed the eventful history of Austria. In 1848 came the dissolution of the manorial system, the community Wolfpassing arose. In 1970 the municipalities book, Etzerstetten and Zarnsdorf were incorporated.

Population Development

According to the results of the 2001 census, there were 1301 inhabitants. In 1991, the municipality had 1321 inhabitants, 1981 and 1268 in 1971, 1208 inhabitants.

Policy

The council has 19 seats, mayor of the municipality is Joseph Sonnleitner.

In the municipal elections of 2005, the ÖVP reached 14, the SPÖ and the Nonpartisan list Wolfpassing (LW) two and the FPÖ 1 mandate. In the municipal elections of 2010, the People's Party lost one seat, the SPÖ won one and the Freedom Party two seats. LW no longer went to.

Culture and sights

Castle Wolfpassing

The castle is located on the eastern outskirts of the village and is a Baroque four-wing building with a courtyard and featured corner towers. By Baron von Geymann was at 1690/1700 an expansion which largely reflects the present state. From 1834 to 1910 the castle was in the imperial possessions and then came into state ownership.
