Wolf creek is an Austrian market town in the district of Amstetten in Lower Austria with 1859 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2013).

Geography

Wolf creek is located in the Most district in Lower Austria. 6.84 percent of the area of the municipality is forested.

The market town of wolf creek includes the only village of Wolf creek, cadastral municipalities are:

  • Bubendorf ( 11.15 km ²)
  • Meiler village ( 10.05 km ²)
  • Wolf Bach ( 9.76 km ²)

History

In ancient times, the area was part of the province of Noricum. In the core Austrian state of Lower Austria lying the place told the eventful history of Austria.

Blazon: In a lowered from gold to blue by a silver, geästeten beams divided shield on one of the shields division to the right of current Red Wolf.

Policy

The council has 19 seats, mayor of the municipality is Franz Sturm, Vice Mayor Joseph Wagner, chief officer Florian Kammerhuber.

In the municipal elections of 2005, the ÖVP and the SPÖ reached 16 3 mandates. In the 2010 municipal elections the SPÖ and the ÖVP lost one seat to the FPÖ, who moved to the municipal council.

Population Development

According to the results of the 2001 census, there were 1,809 inhabitants. In 1991, the market town of 1,731 inhabitants in 1981 and 1,693 in 1971, 1,728 inhabitants.

Economy and infrastructure

Non-agricultural workplaces, there were 66 in 2001, according to the 1999 survey, there were 150 agricultural and forestry holdings. Employed at the residence were 2001 824 people according to the census. The employment rate in 2001 was 46.48 percent. In 2003, on average there were 36 unemployed at the site.
