Women's World Chess Championship 1935

The World Chess Championship for women in 1935 (self- designation: Women's World Cup tournament for the Hamilton -Russell Cup ) was the discharged during the Chess Olympiad from August 22 to 31 1935 at the Warsaw military casino round-robin tournament for the title of world champion in chess, the success of Vera Menchik was defended.

Hostess was Róża Herman, the Vienna diplomat Colonel Dr. Stark was tournament director.

The English top player Agnes Stevenson died in Poznań ( Posen) in an accident during the journey on August 20, 1935 a memorial blumenumhülltes troop was placed in her honor in the tournament hall.

Vera Menchik won all the games, her sister Olga reached the fourth place. Regina Gerlecka succeeded with the second place as a freshman a surprise success, as they had previously not taken part in any international tournament. Gisela Harum launched by its own account, among other things due to lack of training tournaments with one point from three rounds, then won the next five games and reached the third place. The Swiss -born Helen Thierry played for their new home Denmark.
