Wood Island (MBTA-Station)

Wood Iceland is an underground station of the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority ( MBTA ) in Boston's South Boston, Massachusetts in the United States. It provides access to the Blue Line.

History

The station was opened on 5 January 1952, named after the at that time still existing recreation area Wood Iceland Park, on the former site today are parts of the Logan International Airport. Mid-1990s, the station was rebuilt and renovated in August 2008.

Metro Station has a total of two tracks, which are accessible via two side platforms.

The metro station is located at the address 430 Bennington Street near the Massachusetts Route 145 and is completely accessible.
