The Aeros Corporation is a U.S. company in the aviation industry, which specializes in the development and production of aerostats as well as hybrid and rigid airships.

History

The origins of the company go back to 1981 by the company founder Igor Pasternak later at the Polytechnic University in Lviv (Ukraine ) established voluntary airship design study group. The company was founded in 1986 as the first private sector company in the aviation industry under the Gorbachev initiated perestroika. Since 1994, Aeros has its corporate office in the U.S., where it leads through the main development and production work. The airship hangar located in California the company applies with 30 meters length, 91 meters wide and 55 meters high as one of the largest wooden buildings in the world.

In 2005 Aeros won the bid for a lighter- than-air research project, which was awarded by DARPA. Since then, the company designed and built under the project name Aerocraft the prototype of a novel load airship, which is designed as a rigid airship. In contrast to the Company Cargo Lifter AG, which followed a similar business purpose, but went bankrupt in 2002, Aeros therefore selects a technologically different approach.

Developments

Aeros -40A

  • Presented two-seater blimp, 1995: Type
  • The airship can be secured to an anchor post. There will be a ground crew of twelve people needed. The ship is equipped with two mooring lines at the bow and at the stern.

The airship is equipped with two ballonets one each front and rear fitted in the shell. They have a maximum volume of 238 per m³ ( 28% of the shell volume ) and are attached to the bottom of the casing. The ballonets be inflated, each with an electric fan and each have a pneumatically actuated switch back spring air release valve. The helium pressure valve opens at a pressure of 747 Pa ( 7.47 mbar = 3 inches of water ).

Aeros 40B Sky Dragon

The first studies on the 40B was started in 1997. The type certificate from the FAA was awarded in June 2000. In January 2002, the Federal Aviation Authority awarded the certificate of airworthiness. 2004 on the ship with the serial number 19 and an unmanned version developed under the designation Model 40U.
