Action

Walter is a standalone Cuban barber, who ekes out his retired life in Florida. Frank, a former sailor who was deported from his son in a retired apartment complex, which is led by the feisty Helen Cooney. It's July and very hot. The air conditioning in Frank's living room is not working and it looks cool in the air conditioned movie theater, where he takes a look at the matinees with the single lady Georgia. In a park by the sea, he meets Walter, who loosens crossword puzzle. Frank is a rowdy, noisy, lonely man who every unasked tells his story as he has defeated in 1938 as a young Captain Ernest Hemingway in a wrestling match to Puerto Rico. Walter is an elegant old gentleman who never swears and worshiped the young waitress Elaine. Walter and Frank are completely different old people who still make friends in their loneliness. Walter Frank takes with in the fast-food restaurant where Elaine served. Frank takes with Walter on his tandem to admire the fireworks for the 4th of July, Independence Day in America.

Walter was never married and Frank brags about his womanizing, he claims to still have. While Walter is dancing alone at home and prepares for the annual dance festival, Frank dreamed his last wife adventure. The age is about two different ways. For Walter world falls apart when he learns that his beloved Elaine is married and moves. About the farewell gift for Elaine, there is a dispute between Walter and Frank. Both are now aware of the importance of friends in life, and that they have never had real friends in life. For reconciliation Frank arranged the opportunity to meet again with Elaine, to say goodbye to Walter. Walter had dreamed to go with Elaine to dance hard, but comes to terms with their marriage plans and leaves on the table his farewell gift. In order to reconcile with Frank, it loads the old sailor for a dance festival. When he wants to pick him up from his apartment, he found the landlady Helen and Frank passed away peacefully. Walter goes alone to the dance party.
