Württemberg AD

The steam locomotive of the genus AD the Württemberg State Railways was an express locomotive with the wheel arrangement 2'B. It was built in 1899 by Maschinenfabrik Esslingen. Until then, the railroad had used outdated locomotives with the wheel arrangement 1'B.

The vehicles were equipped with a two -cylinder compound engine. Striking was the connecting pipe between two steam domes. 98 machines of this type emerged until 1907; they had initially flat slide, from 1903 piston valve were installed.

1907 two locomotives were tentatively equipped with two-cylinder steam engines. The vessel pressure was reduced to 117.7 N / cm ². Because this resulted in a performance gain of about 20 %, by 1909 another 17 locomotives were procured in this version and called genus ADh.

The phasing out of both classes began in the early 1920s.

The German Reichsbahn took over 24 locomotives of the compound type as the class 13:16 with the numbers 13 1601-13 1624 and 14 locomotives of the steam type as the class 13:17 with the numbers 13 1701-13 1714. Former were retired by 1928, the latter until 1932.

The locomotives were of the type with tenders wü 2 T 10 and equipped wü 3 T 15.5.
