Wysokie, Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship

Vysokie ( German: Wyssocken, 1938-1945 Walter height ) is a scoring for community Kalinowo village in the northeastern Mazury in Polish Warmia - Masuria, Elk County. The village is located six kilometers southwest of the town Kalinowo ( German calligrapher Owen ) on the highway leading from Elk to Augustów 16

History

The origin of the place name is derived from the German term for the Masurian height (or hill ).

In May 1874 the district of Gollupken was formed in the wake of a Prussian government reform new, which included the communities Gollubien A, B Gollubien, Gollupken, United Skomentnen, Small Skomentnen, Mikolayken, Saborowen, Szczudlen and Wyssocken.

1933 were recorded in Wyssocken 293 inhabitants.

Wyssocken was renamed Masurian, Polish or Lithuanian origin in Walter height of the massive Germanization of place names on 3 June 1938. The name change followed the German translation of the word wysockie in height together with the name Walter before. 1938 by analogous renaming of the District Gollupken the District Lübeck field, then the seven churches named George newer field, Gollen, Lübeck field, Reichenwalde ( Ostpr. ) Skomanten, Thomken and Walter height included.

1939 Walter height ( Wyssocken ) only 261 inhabitants.

The mayor of the municipality before 1945, for a long time a landowner family called Piotrowski, who owned 41 acres of land there.

After the end of World War II in 1945 to the German Empire ( East Prussia ) Walter height was associated ( Wyssocken ) to Poland. The resident population was German, if they had not fled, largely expelled after 1945 and replaced in addition to the traditional Masurian minority by new residents from other parts of Poland. The town was renamed in Vysokie.

From 1975 to 1998 belonged to Vysokie former Suwałki Voivodeship, then came 1999 on the newly formed Warmia and Mazury.
