Yanacachi

Yanacachi is a settlement in the department of La Paz in the South American Andes State of Bolivia.

Location in near space

Yanacachi is the central place of the district ( bolivian: municipality ) in the province of Sud Yungas Yanacachi. The village is situated on an altitude of 2042 m on a picturesque ridge between the rivers Río Takesi and Río Unduavi, both drained by the Río Boopi the Río Beni.

Geography

Yanacachi is located in the Bolivian Yungas on the eastern slopes of the high mountain ridge of the Cordillera Real. The region has a pronounced diurnal climate in which the mean temperature fluctuations during the day be more pronounced than during all seasons.

The average annual temperature of the region is 12 ° C, the monthly values ​​vary only slightly between some 10 ° C in June / July and nearly 14 ° C in November / December (see climate chart Yapacani ). Yanacachi lies at a distance of 157 kilometers of road east of La Paz, the capital of the department of the same name.

From La Paz the paved highway Route 3 leads in a northeasterly direction 60 miles to Unduavi, then branches off the unpaved Ruta 25 after Chulumani in a southeasterly direction from, and follows the course of the Río Unduavi. After about 25 kilometers, a side road leads to the right from about six kilometers to Yanacachi and from there to the location in a ancient Inca Trail miners settlement La Chojlla.

Population

The population of the settlement is increased by about 25 % in the current decade, from 504 inhabitants ( 2001 census ) to 623 inhabitants ( 2009 estimate ).
