The municipality Yanacachi is a district in the Bolivian department of La Paz

The municipality Yanacachi is one of five Municipalities of the Province Sud Yungas and is located in the southwestern part of the province. It is bordered to the north by the province of Nor Yungas, to the west by the province of Murillo, on the south by the municipality of Irupana, and on the east by the municipality of Chulumani.

The municipality has 38 localities ( Localidades ), the central location of the municipality is Yanacachi with 504 inhabitants in the northern part of the municipality. The largest town in the municipality is the mining town of La Chojlla with 943 inhabitants. (2001)

Geography

The municipality is located in the Bolivian Yungas Yanacachi at an average altitude of 2000 m on the eastern slopes of the Andes mountain range of the Cordillera Real.

The mean average temperature of the region is 16 ° C, the annual precipitation is about 1150 mm. The region has a pronounced diurnal climate, the monthly average temperatures vary only slightly between 14 ° C in July and 18 ° C in December. The monthly rainfall between about 20 mm during the months of June and July, and more than 150 mm from December to February.
