History

The Yonsei University was founded in January 1957 by the merger of Yonhi University and Severance Medical College. The founding president was Nak Joon Baek ( 백낙준 ). The Severance Medical College dates back to the hospital, founded in April 1885 Kwanghyewon ( 광혜원; German "House for extension of grace" ), which a little later in Jejungwon ( 제중원; " house for people rescue ") was renamed. The Yonhi University had its origins in March 1915, founded Chosen Christian College.

Severance Medical College

Yonhi University

Yonsei University

1957 merged the Yonhi University and Severance Medical College of Yonsei University. In 1959, the Korean Language Institute was founded. 1977 's biggest telescope was built at Yonsei University in Korea. Graduate Schools

The first graduate school was founded in 1950 in the Yonhi University. Founding Dean, Dr. Yun Kyung Kim. The first doctoral students were taken in 1961. Like the rest of Yonsei University is also based training in the Graduate Schools of Christian values. In the graduate schools to Korea's future leaders are trained, they are used with the goal of world community. They should learn to develop " creative academic results, with scientific / critical research methods."
