Yousef Karami

Youssef Karami (Persian یوسف کرمی; born March 22, 1983 in Mianeh ) is an Iranian Taekwondo who is successful in the welter - and middleweight. In addition to two world titles he won an Olympic bronze medal in 2004.

Karami succeeded to the title win in the category up to 78 kg at the Asia Cup 2002 in Amman, the breakthrough in the international forefront. The following year he won the title until 84 kg also in his first 2003 World Cup in Garmisch -Partenkirchen with a final victory over Mickael Borot in class. Karami qualified for the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens. In the category up to 80 kg, he retired after two upbeat success although against Steven Lopez in the semifinals, but fought his way with two victories in the repechage nor the bronze medal. Karami was successful in the following years. He won at the World Championships 2005 in Madrid Bronze and won the following year for the first time at the Asian Games in Doha. Participation in the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, he missed, but again won at the 2009 World Championships in Copenhagen bronze, defended at the Asian Games 2010 in Guangzhou, his title and was in Astana for a total second time Asian champions.

Another successful event was the year 2011. Karami won at the 2011 World Championships in Gyeongju in the class up to 87 kg his second world title. At the International Olympic qualification tournament in Baku he won against famous competitors and secured the participation in his second Olympic Games 2012 in London. There he reached the seventh place.
