Yung Rapunxel

Yung Rapunxel is the title of a song by the U.S. rapper Azealia Banks. It first appeared on April 16, 2013 on all major download portals as the first single from her debut album Broke With Expensive Taste ( 2013).

Background

First ideas to Yung Rapunxel already emerged at the end of 2011. Banks contacted producer Lil Internet via SoundCloud, after hearing some of his original songs on its side. The two musicians met in New York, where they recorded the first demos for the song in various recording studios and hotel rooms. Involved in the songwriting were Azealia Banks, Kevin James, Premro Smith and Chandron Moore. The concept of the song, however, was revised again and again as soon as Banks and Lil Internet met again.

When asked whether the song had changed significantly during the development process, Lil Internet said:

" In terms of the beat, it is not really. Banks first announced on January 28, 2013 Yung Rapunxel as the first single of their debut album Broke With Expensive Taste on.
