Yunlin County

The Yunlin County (Chinese云林 县/云林 县, Pinyin Yunlin Xiàn, Tongyong Pinyin Yunlin Sian, W.-G. Yun- lin Hsien, PEH oē - jī - Hun Lim koan ) is a district of the Republic of China on Taiwan. It is located in the central part of western Taiwan, its capital is Douliu.

Geography

The Yunlin County is located at the junction of Jianan - level in the south to Zhanghua level in the North, which together form the largest plain of Taiwan. In the north of Zhuoshui, the longest river in Taiwan with its lower reaches the border of the county Zhanghua forms. In the south, bordering the Yunlin County to the county Jiayi, on the east by the Nantou County and on the west by the Formosastraße.

The county consists of 90 % of plains, along the eastern border there are some hills and in the southeast it extends into the northwestern foothills of the Alishan Mountains into it.

Cities and Towns

The 106,361 inhabitants (as of April 2009) scoring Douliu capital is the only major city (市, Shì ) of the district. In addition, there are five townships (镇, zhen ) and 14 rural communities (乡, Xiang ).
