Yusuf Saad Kamel

Yusuf Saad Kamel (born Gregory Konchellah; born March 29, 1983 in Narok, Rift Valley Province ) is a Bahraini middle-distance runner of Kenyan origin.

The son of Billy Konchellah, the two-time world champion in the 800 -meter run, moved in November 2003, the Citizenship and starts since then for Bahrain. In 2004, he launched more than 800 m at the Olympic Games in Athens, but already retired from the lead. A short time later he was able to record a moderate success by winning the IAAF World Athletics Final in Monaco.

At the World Athletics Championships in Helsinki in 2005 he reached the semi-finals in the 800 -meter run. In 2006 he won the IAAF World Cup in Athens, in 2007 the IAAF World Athletics Final in Stuttgart.

In 2008 he won at the World Indoor Championships in Valencia its first international medal when he won the 800m in a personal Hallenbestleistung of 1:45,26 min third. At the Olympic Games in Beijing in the same year he finished fifth.

However, the biggest success of his career, he celebrated in the 1500 meter race. At the World Athletics Championships 2009, he won over this distance the gold medal. In the rather slow at the end of the race he could play his sprinting power and referred to 3:35,93 min Deresse Mekonnen and Bernard Lagat to the places. Four days later took camel in the 800 -meter run with 1:45,35 min the bronze medal behind Mbulaeni Mulaudzi and Alfred Kirwa Yego.

Yusuf Saad Kamel is 1,84 m tall and weighs 70 kg. He trained in Switzerland by Tariq Sabt, the husband and coach of Maryam Yusuf Jamal. In his native village he runs a wheat farm.
