Zalman Reisen

Salman travel (also: Salmen travels, Zalman travel; born October 6, 1887 in Koidanowo, Minsk province, Russian Empire, but missing 1941) was the Yiddish writer and journalist, biographer and translator.

Life

He received the traditional education of a Jewish boy, after he attended middle school and then devoted himself to literary studies. In 1914 he joined the staff at the Warsaw Fraind, 1916 to 1918 editor of the Last Naies in Vilnius since 1919, editor of the company founded by Shmuel Niger Wilner Tog, he took over as editor after Niger's departure for America, and in the society as an independent magazine, at a high level - cultural issues of Judaism were discussed, took to blossom.

Salman Travel the years has worked particularly of Yiddish linguistics (grammar, spelling reform, also Pedagogical ) and literary history, wrote a large number of Yiddish music, was chairman of the Jewish writers and journalists association in Vilnius, Publishing founder and maintainer of his published in cooperation with Niger Dictionary, Chairman of the Jewish PEN Club in Vilnius, a time to Max Weinreich Director of the Yiddish scientific Institute in Vilna, co-editor of the Jewish Philology and Philological writings of JWI (later YIVO called ), in which he also published a number of linguistic works.

Since the late 1920s, he made several lecture tours (Russia, America), during which he was involved in the Yiddish literature and the YIVO friends and supporters campaigned. In 1941 he was arrested in Vilnius by the Soviet Union and has been missing ever since.

Salman travel was the brother of Abraham and Sarah travel.
