Závažná Poruba
Závažná Poruba (up to 1946 Slovak " Zavazna Poruba " - to 1927 " Zavazna Poruba " or " Liptovská Poruba "; Hungarian Németporuba ) is a municipality in the north of Slovakia, with 1231 inhabitants ( 31 December 2011), which for Okres Liptovsky Mikuláš, a part of the Žilinský heard and counted in the traditional landscape Liptau.
Geography
The municipality is located in the middle Liptau. The nearly 18.7 km ² large municipality extends from the current flowing in the valley Podtatranská kotlina Waag in the north ( 615 m nm ) over the center of village in the valley Lažtek ( 643 m nm) located to in the Low Tatras mountain Krakova hola (1752 m nm) into it. However, the " mountain" is the Poludnica ( 1549 m nm), under which a ski resort called Opalisko is. The village is five kilometers from Liptovsky Mikulas.
History
The town was first mentioned in 1377 as possessio Nemethporuba writing. The population lived since the founding of mainly cattle and sheep, and later of Agriculture. In the 19th and 20th centuries Mauerei and carpentry were widespread.
Name
The word " Poruba " refers to created by loggers clearing in the then still wooded banks of the Waag. The " Angol " ( = German ) in the Hungarian name has nothing to do with people, but with the kind of foundation under German law (see Schultheiss ) to do.
