Zeleneč, Slovakia

Zelenec ( until 1927 slovak " Linc "; Silinz German, Hungarian Szelincs - to 1907 Szilincs ) a place and a municipality in the Trnavský Okres Trnava Region is in Western Slovakia. The number of inhabitants amounted at 31 December 2009 to 2,443 persons.

Geography

The municipality is located on the eastern wheel of Trnavská pahorkatina ( " Trnava hills " ) and thus in the Danube hilly, five kilometers south of the city of Trnava and a creek Parna, which flows through the town on the eastern edge.

History

The town was first mentioned in 1243 as Terra Scelench writing. He was one of the first Pressburg and succeeded in 1278 the property of the Bratislava Chapter, later also for rule of the Counts of St. Georgen and Bösing. During the feudal period Zelenec often had disputes with the municipality Opoj.
