Żeleźno

Železno ( German Silesen ) is a village in the Polish West Pomeranian Voivodeship. It belongs to the rural community Białogard in powiat Białogardzki.

Geographical location

Železno is located six kilometers northeast of the county town and is Białogard From road 28 - to reach over Nosowo ( Nassow ) on a side road to Białogard (Stettin Gdansk ). Nearest railway station is Białogard. Through the village of Zelmuckbach which opens at Żelimucha ( Buchenhorst ) in the Radev ( Radüe ) flows.

History

The discovery of a bronze sword in 1890 in the bog of Silesen indicates a prehistoric settlement. In the 16th century, the village consisted of 13 farms. In 1632 the plague raged in place that fell victim to many residents. In 1867 there were in the village 11 full peasants, 2 Kossäten and 19 small property agencies. 1939 lived in Silesen 348 residents in 38 apartments.

By 1945 Silesen for official and civil registry district Bulgrin belonged (now Polish: Białogórzyno ) in the District Court area Belgard. Last incumbents were: Mayor Berthold Klug, Chief Administrator William Lobeck and registrar Albert Wendt. In early March 1945, peacefully occupied by the Red Army Silesen. The village became part of Poland and now Železno is the district of the rural community Białogard.

Church

Silesen belonged until 1945 to the parish church Bulgrin in Belgard county of the Church of the Evangelical Church of Pomerania Old Prussian Union. In the year 1940 1762 parishioners were counted.

Today Železno belongs to the parish of Koszalin Polish Evangelical Church of the Augsburg ( Lutheran ) Confession.

School

Until 1819, the classes were held alternately in the farmhouses. Only then can a school building was erected.
