Zeta Banovina

The Zeta Banovina ( serbokroat. Zetska banovina, kyrill. Зетска бановина ) was one of nine Banats of the Kingdom of Yugoslavia, which were formed on 3 October 1929. The capital city, de facto the provincial capital, Cetinje was.

The Banovina consisted of what is now Montenegro, Dalmatia with Dubrovnik, the eastern Herzegovina and parts Altrasziens or the sandžak and Metochiens. They were named after the river Zeta Banovina.

History

The Zeta Banovina was created in 1929 with the reorganization of the Yugoslav state from the Kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovenes in the Kingdom of Yugoslavia, under Alexander I.. With the establishment of the Croatian Banovina 1939 South Dalmatia Dubrovnik fell to the new Banovina. After the attack of Hitler's regime to the Kingdom of Yugoslavia and the capitulation of Yugoslavia 1941, the Zeta Banovina was dissolved. The main part was to Montenegro, which was reorganized by the Italian fascists as a state under their occupation. The eastern Herzegovina was the Ustasha state slammed, split the previously belonging to the Banovina parts Metochiens and sandžak between the Protectorate of Serbia and also standing under Italian occupation of Albania. After the war, the Republics of Bosnia- Herzegovina, Croatia, Montenegro and Serbia were formed in communist Yugoslavia; Zeta Banovina which was not renewed.
