Zhané

Zhané (pronounced Jah -Nay ) is an American R & B and hip- hop duo, which met in 1993 in Philadelphia. With the debut single Hey Mr. DJ international breakthrough.

Band History

Jean Norris and Renee Neufville met during their music studies at Temple University in Philadelphia, and founded in 1993, the duo know Zhané. Kay Gee, the producer of Naughty by Nature, discovered the musicians and took with them the title Hey Mr. DJ on. On the track that first appeared on the compilation roll wit tha Flavor, samples from Michael Wycoffs Looking up to You were processed in 1982. Following the release as a single, the song climbed into the Top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100, reached gold status and in 1994 brought a contract with Motown. In many European charts, for example, the British, German and Austrian, the song was successful.

The second single Groove Thang band entered 1994, the top 20 in the U.S. singles chart and placed in the charts of the UK and Germany. Sending My Love became a hit in the U.S., Vibe in the UK in the same year. Originally from the soundtrack of the film A Low Down Dirty Shame Shame song became the Folgehit that simultaneously published debut album Pronounced Jah -Nay was awarded a gold record. After collaborations with Busta Rhymes and De La Soul, in 1997 the hit singles Request Line and crush that were included on the second album Saturday Night in the stores.

Two years later Zhané turned back once more to the charts when they recorded with the title of Naughty by Nature Jamboree. In the U.S., it was enough for 10th place in the UK for 51st there was After 1999, no further publications.
