Zhang Chengye (biathlete)

Zhang Chengye (Chinese张 成 烨, Pinyin Zhang Chengye, born May 20, 1982 in Jilin ) is a Chinese biathlete.

Zhang Chengye, a student from Tonghua, began in 2002 with the sport of biathlon. Since 2003 he is a member of the Chinese National Team and will start for the Chinese Biathlon Association. In the World Cup he made his debut in Pokljuka 2004. Shortly thereafter, he ran in Antholz in 16th in the sprint for the first time in the points. The following year he reached second place in the individual at the same place his best finish so far. His best season he ran in 2007 /08. Five times he came in the top ten, at the end of the season took Zhang Rank 21 in the overall World Cup standings.

After poor finishes in the World Cup in Oberhof 2004, he was able to achieve a 16 rank at the World Cup in Hochfilzen in the single the following year. At the Olympic Winter Games in Turin in 2006, he joined in single to ( 50 ) Sprint ( 18 ) and in the pursuit of ( 36 ). The Biathlon World Championships in 2007 and 2008 did not bring the expected results, Zhang never reached a place in the top 25, joined Vancouver Zhang Chengye again at the Olympics and reached rank 19 in individual his best result.
