Zizi Jeanmaire

Zizi Jean Maire ( born April 29, 1924 in Paris; actually Renée Marcelle Jean Maire ) is a French ballet dancer, actress and chanson singer. She became famous in the 1950s by her portrayal of the title role in the ballet Carmen, produced in 1949 in London.

Career

Your future husband and long-time colleague, the dancer and choreographer Roland Petit, she learned at the age of nine years at the Ballet de l' Opéra de Paris know. In 1954, the two married. Their joint shows justified their continued success. Jean Maire had become a prima ballerina with the Ballet des Champs- Elysées, where she was known for her energy and her passion.

Their success led them for a short trip to Hollywood, where she worked under the name Jean Maire, and there in the musical Hans Christian Andersen (1952) and Anything Goes (1956 ) occurred. The American artist Joseph Cornell was obsessed by Jean Maire, although the two had only briefly in 1949 talk to each other after a Carmen idea in their wardrobe. Cornell kept on her autograph and collected newspaper clippings and photos.
