Zofia Kulik

Zofia Kulik ( born 14 September 1947 in Wrocław (Breslau) ) is a Polish artist who mainly uses in her work, the means of photography and installation.

Life

Zofia Kulik studied from 1965 to 1971 sculpture at the Academy of Fine Arts ( Academy of Fine Pieknych ) in Warsaw. Between 1970 and 1988 it formed together with Przemyslaw Kwiek the artist KwieKulik. Under this name, the duo presented the works also common. Since 1987, Kulik also works alone and is in solo exhibitions from under her own name.

Most of their work comes out of the installation of serial black-and- white photographs, which are caused by multiple exposures. By using symmetry axes and strong contrasts create a decorative at first sight impression, but becomes brittle again by the choice of subject (violence, war, religion). In addition to the arrangement in series showing her work individually, in display boxes, or together with curtains and other objects. In addition to its well-known works in black and white Kulik is also working with the means of color photography ( Cibachrome prints).

Kulik lives and works in Łomianki - Dąbrowa near Warsaw.
