Zorge

Zorge is a municipality in the district of Harz in Osterode am Harz in Lower Saxony ( Germany ). It belongs to the Walkenried, which has its headquarters in the town of Ried Walk.

The community Zorge extending to 2.21 km ² area and state- recognized health resort is, has 1,080 inhabitants.

Geography

Location

Zorge is located in the southern Harz Harz nature park on the river Zorge and runs as an elongated village street parallel to approximately 3 km (air line ) west situated place Wieda. In a wooded area it is located west of the mountains Big Staufenberg (about 554 m above sea level. NN ) and High resin (about 584 m) and east of the mountains hunting head ( 603.1 m) and Eichenberg ( 495.1 m). To the east and southeast of the village the boundary with Thuringia.

History

Zorge was first documented in 1249. This year, here were monks from the nearby monastery Walkenried build a Erzhütte. 1540 ore was processed in iron and copper smelting, the ore was extracted in open partially. Booksellers Eduard Vieweg in Braunschweig was in the Ducal ironworks Zorge from 1824 to 1850 75 printing presses produce the type Columbia Press. In Zorge six locomotives were built about 1842, the first was named Zorge. From Ellrich to Zorge 1907 a 7.5 km long narrow gauge railway line was built, which is frequented due to the demarcation on April 7, 1945 for the last time.

Traffic

By 1945 Zorge in train -AG - Ellrich Zorge was tied to the world. However, the zone boundary, the average short little train, so it was decommissioned in 1945. After the turn was trying to use the route for a railway museum, this is, however, failed.

Today Zorge is connected via the bus line 470 ( Bad Sachsa Walk - Ried- Zorge - Hohegeiß - brown layer), which is operated by Hahnemann trips and travels daily.
