Geography: Location and community structure

Affalterbach is below the Lembergs about four kilometers south of Marbach am Neckar. In addition to the main town of Affalterbach, with its slightly further east Gartensiedlung Birkhau still belong to the community of Teilort Wolfsölden, the hamlet Steinächle and located beyond the book Bach Birkachhof.

History

First records of the place in the year 972 findings was, however, show that this area was already inhabited 6000 years ago. A few kilometers away was discovered steinheimensis in Steinheim an der Murr the skull of Homo. From a cultural historical perspective Affalterbach lies on the boundary between the dominions of the Franks and of the Alemanni. Until 1938 the town belonged to the upper office Marbach and was then assigned to the district Backnang. With the Baden-Württemberg district reform in 1973 this was, however, dissolved and Affalterbach incorporated in the district of Ludwigsburg.

Religions

In Affalterbach there is both a Protestant and a Roman Catholic church.

The council has 14 members in Affalterbach. The municipal election held on 7 June 2009 yielded the following result:

The council consists of the elected volunteer councils ( nine men and five women) and the mayor as chairman. The mayor is entitled to vote in the local council.

Coat of arms and flag

The blazon of the coat of arms of Affalterbach is: In silver over blue Wellenschildfuß a rooted cutting green apple tree with red apples.

The municipality flag is green and white. Coat of arms and flag were awarded on 24 May 1965.

Affalterbach has partnerships with Neuhausen / Erzgeb. in Saxony and Téglás in Hungary.

Attractions

At the edge of Affalterbach is the 365 meter high Lviv. In fine weather the Lviv is above the vineyards a popular regional trip point.

Economy and infrastructure

Traffic

Affalterbach is thus further connected exclusively via bus to the S -Bahn in Marbach am Neckar to Stuttgart. Furthermore, operate at peak times, early morning and afternoon buses to Winnenden. The nearest train station is Kirchberg ( Murr ) on the railway line Backnang- Ludwigsburg.

Affalterbach is the location of the rotary beacon Luburg ( LBU ), which transmits on 109.2 MHz

There is a nursing home of the county or shamrock nursing homes.

Since September 2003, there is a local museum in the former home of the Affalterbach Mayor Friedrich Kurz. On the ground floor of this building is located in the local archives.

Education

With the apple creek school Affalterbach has its own primary school. Secondary schools can be visited in Marbach am Neckar. In the village there are three kindergartens.

Supply and disposal

The electricity and gas network in the community is operated by the Syna GmbH, a subsidiary of Süwag Energie AG. The drinking water is obtained from the country's water supply. The waste is taken from the Abfallverwertungsgesellschaft of the district Ludwigsburg mbH ( AVL), a 100 % subsidiary of the district Ludwigsburg. AVL is mandated to carry out the tasks for the prevention, recovery and disposal of waste on behalf of the district Ludwigsburg.
