Allenbach
Allenbach is a municipality in the district of Birkenfeld, in Rhineland- Palatinate. It belongs to the municipality Herrnstein. Allenbach is a nationally recognized tourist.
Geography
Allenbach located in the Natural Park Saar -Hunsrück. The municipality also includes the living space Hüttgeswasen.
History
As Ellenbach first mentioned in 1265 belonged to the County of Sponheim Allenbach time. 1601 was obtained from the Ellenburg Allenbacher the castle that stands in the center of Allenbach today.
Lived in Hüttgeswasen to Allenbach and worked in the second half of the 18th century, about twelve years of woodcutters and charcoal burners Johann Peter Petri, called Black Peter, who came as raiders notoriety. He is said to have invented the card game Old Maid in the penitentiary.
In 1794, French revolutionary troops had occupied the left bank of the Rhine. Under the French administration Allenbach belonged from 1798 to 1814 for Canton Rhaunen in Saarland Department. The region was awarded in 1815 to the Congress of Vienna the Kingdom of Prussia. From 1816 to the community Allenbach the new district Bernkastel in the Trier region belonged from 1822 to part of the Rhine Province, and was managed by the mayor Wirschweiler.
In February 1898, the castle from Allenbach Idarer businessman Max Purper was purchased. Near the castle is the Protestant castle church in which there is a Stumm organ since 1832.
In the first Rhineland-Palatinate administration reform Allenbach was incorporated in 1969 with some surrounding municipalities in the district of Birkenfeld.

Coat of arms
The blazon reads: " left diagonally split front plate in blue a golden castle with black windows and a door, from which a two-part silver wave bar shows red rear - silver chess ".
The front shield part is a symbol of the Seal of Allenbach ( 18th century). The rear shield part refers to the former belonging to the County of Sponheim rear.
