Berglangenbach

Berglangenbach is a municipality in the district of Birkenfeld, in Rhineland- Palatinate. It belongs to the community of Baumholder.

Geography

Berglangenbach belongs to Westrich. To the north is Heimbach, in the east Fohren- Linden, to the south and southwest of Rohrbach and Rückweiler is Leitzweiler.

To Berglangenbach includes the residential places Bächelshöfe and Zinkweilerhof.

History

The place belonged to the late 18th century to a native of the county Veldenz part of the Duchy of Pfalz- Zweibrücken and the Schultheißerei Berschweiler in Oberamt Lichtenberg was assigned. In 1790, 30 families lived in the village. The district of Berglangenbach comprised 574 acres.

In 1794, the left bank of the Rhine was occupied by French revolutionary troops. From 1798 to 1814 Berglangenbach belonged to the canton of Baumholder in the Saarland Department. Because of the Congress of Vienna (1815 ) agreements, the region came in 1816 for Saxony- Coburg Principality of Lichtenberg, which it remained until 1834. The community Berglangenbach first belonged to the mayor's Berschweiler, from 1823 to the mayoralty Burg Lichtenberg. After being sold to Prussia and the resolution of the Principality of Lichtenberg Berglangenbach came to the newly erected county of St. Wendel in the Rhine Province. Since 1937 Berglangenbach belongs to the district of Birkenfeld, and since 1946 has been part of Rhineland- Palatinate.

The local council in Berglangenbach consists of eight council members, who were elected at the municipal election held on 7 June 2009 by majority vote, and the honorary mayor as chairman.

Coat of arms

The Coat of Arms was established in 1965 approved by the Rhineland-Palatinate Ministry of Interior.

The blue lion refers to the former belonging to the County of Veldenz. The three mountain and the wave band symbolize the place name ( canting arms ).
