Fohren-Linden
Fohren- Linden is a municipality in the district of Birkenfeld, in Rhineland- Palatinate. It belongs to the community of Baumholder.
Geography
The municipality is located in Unnertal in the west of Rhineland -Palatinate in the southern Hunsrück near the Saarland border.
To Fohren- Linden and the living space belongs Finkenmühle.
History
The name is derived from a variation of the word " pine " ( conifer ) and the name of the townscape still dominant tree species Linde. But there is also the possibility that the first part of the name from the word " Forrn ", an archaic term for " trout " stating: Finally, there are historical documents that the Unnerbach a very productive Fischbach once was.
Certainly, however, is the first written mention of the village, dated the chroniclers to the year 960.

Parish council
The local council in Fohren- Linden consists of eight council members, who were elected at the municipal election held on 7 June 2009 by majority vote, and the honorary mayor as chairman.
Coat of arms
The blazon reads: " Argent, a crutch, a top rotbewehrter and gezungter growing blue lion, down the front, a Föhrenzweig, behind a green lime leaf ".
The lion has the former belonging to the County of Veldenz, Föhrenzweig and lime leaf suggest speaking the names of the two districts. The coat of arms was approved by decree of the Rhineland-Palatinate Ministry of the Interior on March 15, 1963.
Traffic
The Federal Highway 62 is accessed via a junction in five kilometers away Freisen.
