Arrondissement of Bordeaux
The Arrondissement Bordeaux is an administrative district in the Gironde department in the French region of Aquitaine.
History
On 4 March 1790, founded with the establishment of the department of Gironde, a " District Bordeaux ", who was, however, smaller than the present district. On February 17, 1800 from the Bordeaux district, increased by the area of the former district of Cadillac, was founded.
From September 10 1926 to June 1, 1942 also included the area of the previous arrondissement Arrondissement Lesparre to Bordeaux.
Other areas changes occurred in the years 2006 and 2007. Effective on May 1, 2006, the arrondissement Bordeaux has been reduced by four cantons. The canton of Saint -André -de- Cubzac joined the district Blaye, Cadillac and the cantons Podensac for Arrondissement Langon and the Canton of Castelnau -de -Médoc district to Lesparre -Médoc. On 1 January 2007 the district was reduced by a further four cantons and made it the new district Arcachon.

Geography
The district is bordered to the north by the arrondissements Lesparre -Médoc and Blaye, on the east by the district Libourne, on the south by the district Langon and to the west by the district Arcachon.
