Bogda

Bogda (Romanian and Bogdan (1924 ), German Neuhof, Hungarian Rigósfürdö or Bogdarigós, Serbian Cyrillic Богда ) is a municipality in Timiş, Banat, Romania. The municipality includes the villages of Bogda Altringen, Buzad, Charlottenburg, Comeat and Sintar. Bogda was known by the spa Bogdarigós, which was converted into a pioneer camp after the expropriation of 1948. Today Bogda increasingly becoming a weekend and holiday destination.

Bogda is located in the north of the district Timiş, Arad County on the border and is about 50 km from Timişoara. The place is on the county road DJ691A Maşloc - crosses Topolovatu Mare - Brestovăţ.

Etymology

The first documentary mention of the place BAGD dates back to 1436th In the following period were two places clif Baagd (Romanian Bogda de Sus ) and alsoe Baagd (Romanian Bogda de Jos ) in appearance, but in 1476 joined forces under the name BAGD. On the Mercykarte 1723 the village was recorded under the name Bogdan. As a German in 1771 were settled, the place got the name Neuhoff, later Neuhof. The reason Mr. Anton Nagele prompted the name change to Bogdarigós. Under this designation later the spa was known.

History

In the 14th century there were in the field of today's Bogda no compact settlement but only scattered huts. In the years 1770-1771 Carl Samuel Neumann Edler von Buchholt founded by the settlement of 32 German families from the realm the place Neuhoff. The settlers came from Baden- Württemberg, Bavaria, Saxony, Lorraine and Hesse. The German name goes back to the Administrationsrat Franz Xaver Robias ratchet Johann Edler von Neuhoff.

Tourism

Squire Anton Nagele founded the spa of Bogdarigós, which was especially appreciated by Timisoara and Arad new guests because of its health-giving spa water for spa and relaxation. In the spa there was a chapel and a crossroads, where the feast of St. Anne ( the so-called Rigoschfest ) was celebrated annually on 26 July. After the expropriation of 1948, the spa has been transformed into a pioneer camp. The chapel and the Stations of the Cross were closed. After the Romanian Revolution of 1989, Bogda transformed gradually into a popular resort.
