Castanet-le-Haut

Castanet- le-Haut is a southern French village with 191 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Hérault in the Languedoc- Roussillon region.

Geography

Castanet- le-Haut is located on the border of the département Hérault in the Regional Natural Park of Haut Languedoc in the mountain massif of the Monts de l' Espinouse directly to the department of Tarn and Aveyron, 73 kilometers east of Montpellier and 41 kilometers northwest of Béziers, the seat of sub-prefecture of eponymous arrondissement. Neighboring communities of Castanet- le-Haut are Arnac -sur- Dourdou in the north, Saint- Geniès -de- Varensal in the east, in the southeast Rosi and Cambon -et- Salvergues in the southwest. The wooded 50 percent municipal area covers 2755 hectares, the average altitude is 757 meters above sea level, the Mairie stands at a height of 452 meters. The Mare rises in the municipality. The hamlet Fagairolles belongs to the municipality. The municipality is part of the Regional Natural Park of Haut Languedoc.
