Civitella d'Agliano

Civitella d' Agliano is a municipality with 1664 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012) in the province of Viterbo in the Italian region of Lazio.

Geography

Civitella d' Agliano is located 104 km north of Rome and 28 km north of Viterbo. It is situated on a hill overlooking the valley of the Tiber. The municipal area extends from the hills of Tuscia to Lago di Alviano, a conservation area by the WWF.

The municipality of the districts Case Nuove, Pian della Breccia, San Michele include in Teverina, San Sebastiano and Spoletino.

Its neighboring municipalities are Alviano (TR ), Bagnoregio, Castiglione in Teverina Graffignano, Guardea (TR ), Montecchio (TR ), Orvieto (TR) and Viterbo.

Traffic

Civitella d' Agliano is close to the A1 Autostrada del Sole motorway. The next driveway, however, Orvieto, 23 km.

The nearest railway station on the railway line Rome - Florence is Alviano Scalo 9 km away from the center.

History

A first castle named Agliano was built around the year 1000 and taken over in the 11th century by the family Monaldeschi, which determined the fate of the town for the next few centuries. In 1415 he came to the Apostolic Chamber.

Roberto Mancini ( PdL ) was elected in June 2004 to the mayor and re-elected in 2009. His center-right list is also available with 8 of 12 seats, the majority in the City Council.

The area of Civitella is determined by the olive and wine growing. The vineyard is part of the DOC Orvieto.
