Deštná (Blansko District)

Deštná ( German Deschna ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic. It is located 16 km north-west of Boskovice and belongs to Okres Blansko.

Geography

Deštná is located in the Valley of the Zavadilka in the Bohemian-Moravian Highlands. West of the Na Vrších ( Barta mountain, 547 m) rises.

Neighboring towns are Horakova Lhota in the north, Horni Smržov in the northeast, Luhy and Roubanina in the east, Chlum the southeast, Bahna, Rumberk and Dolni Smržov in the south, Rozhraní the southwest, Chrastová Lhota and Půlpecen in the west and Moravian Chrastová, Marianske UDOLI, Sibir and Drahošov in the northwest.

History

The Rumberk castle was probably built in the second half of the 13th century. It was the seat of an episcopal fief of the Bishopric of Olomouc and since 1274 a Bertold of Rumberg is handed down. As an economic center in the town was Zavadilkatal Rumberk. Lords of Rumberg were related to the Ronowern, and it is believed that they migrated from Saxony. In addition to the town Rumberg probably included the Castle Letovice to rule Rumberg. After the division of the fief the castle lost its importance and became extinct at the end of the 14th century.

Deštná was first documented in 1317. Since the 15th century Deštná had a church and parish. The old church was probably in the cemetery and walked among the Thirty Years' War. Get the 1408 was consecrated bell of the church, which was preserved at later times as the only before melting for military purposes because of their historical value.

The municipality consists of the villages Deštná Deštná ( Deschna ) and Rumberk ( Rumberg ).

Attractions

  • The remains of the castle Rumberk, in the woods south of the village.
  • The Church of St. Peter and Paul, built from 1781 to 1782 and consecrated by Bishop Anton Theodor von Colloredo- Waldsee - Mels. The church is considered since 2000 as a cultural monument.
