Domrémy-la-Pucelle

Domremy- la -Pucelle is a commune of 142 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Vosges in the Lorraine region. It belongs to the district Neufchâteau, for Canton Coussey and community association Pays de Jeanne.

Geography

The municipality of Domremy- la -Pucelle is near the mouth of the Vair in the upper Meuse, about ten kilometers north of Neufchâteau. In the northwest borders the municipality of Domremy on the Meuse.

History

1412, the French national heroine Joan of Arc was born in Domremy.

The addition la Pucelle was the church in honor of Joan of Arc, which was often in French " la Pucelle d' Orléans " called ( " The Maid of Orleans ").
