Doug Bereuter

Douglas Kent " Doug " Bereuter ( born October 6, 1939 in York, York County, Nebraska) is an American politician. Between 1979 and 2004 he represented the first electoral district of the state of Nebraska in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Early years and political rise

Doug Bereuter attended St. Paul's Lutheran School in Utica and afterwards, until 1957, Utica High School. Subsequently, he studied until 1961 at the University of Nebraska, before he served in the U.S. Army 1963-1965. After his military service, he continued his education at Harvard University.

Bereuter was a member of the Republican Party. After his studies, he was city planner in the U.S. Ministry of Construction. Between 1967 and 1968 he was head of department at the Ministry of Economic Development in Nebraska. He then headed the Planning Department (Office of Planning and Programming ) of the Government of Nebraska. Congressman
