The Eau Claire County is a county located in the U.S. state of Wisconsin. In 2010, the County had 98 736 inhabitants and a population density of 59.8 inhabitants per square kilometer. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Eau Claire.
Geography
The County is located in the central north west by Wisconsin and has an area of 1671 square kilometers, of which 20 square kilometers are water surface.
In the north- west of the county of Eau Claire River in the Chippewa River, a left tributary of the Mississippi River empties.

History
The Eau Claire County was formed on October 6, 1856 from parts of Chippewa County. It was named, as well as the district capital, according to the Eau Claire River, which flows through the county.
