HC Lev Praha

The HC Lev Prague ( Czech Praha HC Lev, Russian ХК " Лев » Прага ) is a 2010, was established as HC Lev Hradec Králové Hockey Club, who moved shortly after its inception in the Slovak town of Poprad. For the 2011/12 season the club took on the game mode in the Continental Hockey League. In spring 2012, the Club of Poprad was moved to the Czech capital Prague. The home matches of the club will be held in the Tipsport Arena.

History

Beginnings in Poprad (2010-2012)

After negotiations for the accession in the Continental Hockey League between the Czech Ice Hockey Association and the HC Lev Hradec Králové had failed, the management decided the club, the team to Poprad, Slovakia to resettle where it the from the 2010/11 season under HC Lev Poprad names should participate in the KHL. The team was divided for its inaugural season in the Bobrov Division.

On 28 July, the KHL announced that the HC Lev would not admitted due to lack of permits by the Slovak Ice Hockey Federation SZLH for the game operation of the 2010/11 season. In May 2011, the club in the KHL was recorded and took to the 2011/12 season on the game mode.

Relocation to Prague ( since 2012 )

In spring 2012, the Club of Poprad was moved to the Czech capital Prague after an agreement on training fees with the Czech hockey clubs had been signed. New venue is the Tipsport arena of HC Lev shares with the HC Sparta Prague. As a new coaching duo Josef Jiří Jandač and Kalou were committed.

On September 6, 2012, the bully was the first KHL game of Lev Prague. In this arena Dinamo Riga was defeated 2-1 in the Prague Tipsport. The first KHL goal of HC Lev Prague scored the Slovak Ľuboš Bartečko. On October 9, 2012, the HC Lev Prague set a new attendance record KHL, when the team the OHK Dynamo defeated in the O ₂ Arena before 16,317 spectators with a goal by Alexander Ovechkin 0:1. Originally planned Lev all the games in the O ₂ Arena to be completed, but failed negotiations with the arena management. Finally they agreed on four dates for the premiere season of HC Lev.

After a series of defeats in October 2012 Josef Jandač was dismissed and Jiří Kalou took over temporarily as coach. Two weeks later Jandač swapped the position with Vaclav Sykora, who had previously coached the HC Sparta and now became the new head coach of HC Lev.
